Chapter 75: Searching for the Princess
Chapter 75: Searching for the Princess
When Fernova led his fleet to actually see Sva, he was utterly impressed by the Alpha Fleet. Although several civilizations allied with the Roman Empire also possessed the capability to move planets, asking these allies to simultaneously fight the Star Luo Empire's fleet and move Sva was an impossible task. The Roman Empire and its allies' fleets could not break through the Star Luo Empire's triple-layered escort fleet around Sva, let alone approach it.
Swah, this terrestrial asteroid, is a barren planet with an extremely harsh environment. Daytime temperatures are scorching, while nighttime temperatures plummet. In the middle of a vast desert lies a massive structure, surrounded by a network of defensive fire and patrolling aircraft that make it nearly impossible for even a bird to fly over. No wonder Lydam designated it as a floating prison.
To save face, Fernival suggested that the Alpha Fleet stand aside and let the Roman Empire take the lead in this attack. George, of course, couldn't say anything and was happy to see how the Roman Empire's ground attack capabilities were.
Alpha Fleet and Fernova's main warship hovered above the massive building. Because the warships possessed immense firepower and could easily damage the structure, Fernova ordered his men to pilot their carrier-based fighters towards the Star Luo Empire's patrol aircraft, anti-aircraft turrets, armored vehicles, tanks, and heavy armored vehicles hovering above the building.
The Roman Empire pilots were first-rate. Some aircraft first fired numerous laser beams to suppress and target ground turrets, while others engaged in one-on-one or multi-on-one aerial combat with the Star Luo Empire's patrol aircraft. The ground turrets also emitted intense lasers, creating a dazzling display of light and shadow in the air. Many Star Luo Empire patrol aircraft were destroyed by enemy aircraft or suffered friendly fire from their own lasers. Overwhelmed by the sheer number of Roman Empire aircraft, they were ultimately outnumbered and began to flee the laser-filled area, dispersing towards the perimeter of the massive buildings, trying to escape the Roman Empire's encirclement. The Fenova fleet, seemingly venting its anger at being besieged by the Star Luo Empire's escort fleet on Sva, ordered its subordinates to annihilate all the patrol aircraft and commanded its remaining aircraft to carpet-bomb ground armored vehicles, tanks, and heavy armored vehicles.
Flames soared around the massive building on Gas Planet, with burning metal debris everywhere. Patrol fighters that had been circling and vying for position in the air were falling in large numbers, crashing to the ground and creating large craters. A few patrol fighters fell at an angle, crashing directly into the building's exterior wall and knocking it down.
After the Roman Empire's fighter jets had cleared out the Star Luo Empire's air and ground forces one by one, they formed a square formation above the buildings, seemingly welcoming the inspection of the Alpha Fleet and Commander Fenova. Fenova nodded, indicating his satisfaction with the combat capabilities of his subordinates and carrier-based fighters. He was eager to know the opinion of the human next to him, who claimed to be from the Earth Empire fleet in the Milky Way, regarding this battle. Unfortunately, Fenova could not see the expressions of these Earthlings, nor did he know their thoughts.
At this moment, the Alpha Fleet seemed to be following Fernova's orders. After Fernova picked up Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan in a luxury spaceship, the spaceship landed in a large plaza that appeared to be an entrance or exit of a huge building under the escort of fighter jets. Fernova, Zhou Yuan, and Wei Shan, under the protection of 10,000 heavily armed Roman Empire soldiers, began to enter the building.
The massive building was indeed vast, but after walking for a long time, they hadn't seen a single living being; it was as if they had all vanished. This building contained not only conference rooms, a dining hall, storage rooms, and an armory, but also prison cells. When Finova and his group entered the prison cells, they were astonished to see the prisoners lying on the floor, various liquids flowing around them. These prisoners appeared to have been killed by the Star Luo people. In a large room, more than fifty uniformed beings, each about 1.6 meters tall, lay in the liquid, still holding laser weapons, each with a hole in their head, presumably pierced by laser guns. Finova pointed to these dead beings and told Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan that the Star Luo guards had committed mass suicide. These Star Luo people who committed suicide with silicon-based personalities looked no different from Earth humans, except they were shorter, and their flowing "blood" was black with a slight reddish tinge.
Finova searched room by room, his face growing increasingly grim, until he became alarmed and ordered his guards to immediately conduct a large-scale search for Princess Lefia of the Star Luo Empire. However, the Roman Empire had no photos or videos of Lefia, so Finova, Zhou Yuan, and Wei Shan didn't know what she looked like. Finova believed that if Lefia wasn't found, the mission would be a complete failure. Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan also joined the search, hoping to find traces of Lefia. After all, finding her might deter the Star Luo Empire's fleet from invading Earth Empire.
Finally, Fernova received a report from the captain of a guard squad, saying that one room was different from the others and that the commander should go and take a look. Fernova, Zhou Yuan, and Wei Shan quickly sprinted towards the location indicated by the captain.
This room is indeed very special. It feels very clean and is much larger than the other prisoner's cells. In addition to a bedroom, a washroom, a toilet, a gym, and a study, there is also a study. Judging from the illustration style in the bedroom and the neatly folded women's pajamas on the bed, this is clearly the kind of treatment and environment that Princess Lefia of the Star Luo Empire should receive.
But where is Princess Lefia?
Fernova ordered several guard captains to lead their men in a thorough search of the large room. The guards each carried an instrument and scanned the walls and floor of the room. The scanners showed nothing unusual. Some guards ransacked the room, knocking on the walls and floor to look for hidden compartments or tunnels.
Fernova ordered his guards and attendants to search the entire massive building, then ordered his fleet to conduct a region-by-region scan of the entire planet, and further ordered the fleet to deploy more fighter jets to fly at extremely low altitudes out of the desert to search the entire planet for any trace of Lefia.
All the reports, aside from the wasted effort, yielded nothing; it was as if Lefia had vanished from this place.
“Fenova, we can’t find Princess Lefia no matter what we do. How about this, we’ll move Sva to the Star Fortress and let your country search for her. As long as Lefia is on Sva and Sva is at the Star Fortress, we won’t have to worry about her flying away.” George suggested this to Fenova, seeing his discouragement.
“George, I’d like to do that too, but the Imperial Council has always been very cautious about foreign fleets breaking into the Star Fortress or planets being moved there. The reason, of course, is to avoid letting the enemy in. I originally hoped to find Lefia and take her directly to the Imperial Star Fortress base, that would have been great, but two hours have passed and we still haven’t found her. It seems we have no choice but to move Sva to the base. I’ll report to the Imperial Council first and see what they decide.”
"Ok."
An hour later, Fernova contacted George, saying, "The Imperial Council members greatly admire the combat capabilities of your fleet, and the Imperial Council is prepared to accept you as our ally, but..."
"What's wrong? Fernow, just tell me."
“George, I’m sorry. The Council’s orders to me are to keep your fleet away from Sva and have the Imperial and allied fleets come to move Sva.”
"Well, what can we do?"
"Follow my fleet and then attend the induction ceremony."
"it is good."
The two fleets stood guard next to Sva, waiting for the next fleet to move Sva.
Three days later, a large number of warships from the Roman Empire and its allies jumped out of warp space and arrived near the planet Swa. Upon their arrival, Fernova informed George that preparations were underway to leave Swa.
Soon after, the fleet led by Fernova jumped into warp space, with the Alpha fleet following closely behind.
Of course, three days later, the two fleets arrived at the outer perimeter of the Roman Empire's interstellar fortress. Just as the Alpha Fleet jumped out of warp space, a large number of Roman Empire fleet warships surrounded it.
"Hey, Stark, what do you mean by this?"
“Fenoir, according to the council’s order, this fleet must be monitored and controlled by us before it formally joins the Roman Empire Alliance.”
"You've gone too far!" It was clear that Fernúa was very angry.
“Fenoller, it’s okay. We understand,” George messaged Fenoller.
George, Zhou Yuan, Wei Shan, and others had already been discussing their next steps, but they appeared indifferent.
"Jones, contact the eight fleets searching for Lydam and his main fleet, and have them report on their search progress."
"Yes."
"Commander, the 23rd Fleet, which is in charge of the search, reports that four days ago they discovered a Star Luo Empire military outpost about 6,000 light-years away from the Star Fortress, with a large number of warships inside. Although the other seven fleets have discovered some Star Luo Empire fleets, their scale is not very large in comparison."
"Order the 23rd, 19th, and 35th Fleets to lure as many of the Star Luo Empire's warships from that Star Luo Empire military outpost as possible to the Roman Empire's interstellar fortress. Order the 28th Fleet, which is hidden nearby, to move and hide near Sva once it arrives in this space, ready to be taken over at any time. Notify the Earth Empire in the Milky Way to prepare to take over Sva. Notify the other five search fleets to cease their search and return immediately, hiding them in the space near the parliament building on the Roman Empire's administrative planet. Notify the ten fleets hidden near the interstellar fortress to prepare to provide support. Order all fleets to be fully prepared for battle."
"Understood, sir."
The Alpha Fleet detected a large spatial oscillation behind them, and a large number of Roman Empire and allied warships actually pulled the planet Swa out of warp space.
These warships slowly released and balanced Sva, bringing it to a stop one million kilometers from the outer edge of the interstellar fortress.
The Earth Empire's 28th Fleet, which had been hidden for some time, quietly and slowly moved towards the vicinity of Sva, awaiting further orders from George.
