Chapter 53: The World of Superpowers
Chapter 53: The World of Superpowers
In the year 351 of the Galactic Era, 37 human fleets from Earth, having traversed the galaxy for ten years, parted ways after deeming themselves to pose no threat, including the pursuit and threat posed by the Galactic Alliance. All warships were awakened from their deep-freezing "hibernation," and 35 fleets, led by the Iron Curtain's Vice Commander-in-Chief, returned to the new Earth via a portal. The 19th Fleet and the Alpha Fleet continued their voyage. The 19th Fleet had previously been assigned a contact mission with an alien civilization by the Earth Empire's fleet headquarters. The target of this mission was a supernatural world, an Earth-like planet, "Supernatural Planet," mentioned in the logbooks of the "Metal Civilization."
Galactic Era 359, Star Marker (1, 1, 12106, 4c0).
The Earth Empire's Alpha Fleet and the 19th Fleet arrived near the star "Extraordinary Star". Upon reaching the vicinity of the sun on "Extraordinary Star", the fleet's energy detectors detected extremely high energy readings on "Extraordinary Star", indicating that even in the near-Earth space of "Extraordinary Star", there was a mysterious surge of energy.
"Illusory Star" is a terrestrial planet in its fifth orbit around the Sun, and is about four times the size of Earth.
Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan walked through a forest, their destination a castle that looked rather large.
Before long, the two arrived at the castle. Judging from the architectural technology, "Special Planet" was still in the Ming Dynasty period of Country C in the Earth Era.
The castle gleamed in the sunlight, and pedestrians hurried along the road. Many sword-wielding guards stood at the castle gates, checking passersby.
Wei Shan looked around with great interest, her eyes shining as she looked at the shops and goods on both sides of the street.
Zhou Yuan pulled Wei Shan to a quaint and unique shop. Watching a young man buy a hairpin, his eyes fixed on a bronze coin, an image of the coin was immediately sent to a nearby invisible flying saucer. A moment later, a small, portable portal dropped a handful of bronze coins into Zhou Yuan's pocket. Zhou Yuan smiled sheepishly at the shopkeeper, pointing to a glittering gold hairpin. The shopkeeper was overjoyed and quickly took out the hairpin, handing it to Zhou Yuan.
"Boss, here you go, keep the change." Zhou Yuan stuffed a handful of bronze coins into the shopkeeper's hand, then turned Wei Shan around, picked up a strand of her long hair, and carefully clipped it with a hairpin. Wei Shan's face was flushed, and she remained motionless.
Suddenly, riots broke out, shops hurriedly closed, pedestrians rushed in a panic, and everyone squeezed into the city gate.
Wei Shan couldn't help but tighten her grip on Zhou Yuan's hand, pulling him close to the crowd as they walked, glancing back as they went.
Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan were both quite tall, and when they turned around to look, they were shocked.
About five or six miles from the castle, a dark, monstrous horde, resembling wild beasts, surged in.
Wei Shan held Zhou Yuan's hand tightly, quickened her pace, and weaved through the crowd, looking towards the city gate.
"Close the gates!" Just as the crowd near the city gates was about to surge in, the two massive metal gates began to close. Zhou Yuan, Wei Shan, and about three hundred others were refused entry.
The cries of children and shouts of adults rose and fell among the crowd, all pleading with the guards to open the city gates and let them in.
"Listen up, people below the city! By order of General Zhao Yuan, we are closing the city gates to keep out the orcs."
The dark, swarming orcs raised clouds of dust as they swept toward the castle. These orcs moved with incredible speed, like untamed horses, their pace showing no sign of slowing.
Panic gripped the crowd, and many people gathered in front of the gate, pounding on it. The guards on the gate opened fire with a hail of arrows, killing forty or fifty people. The others dared not approach the gate again, but pressed themselves against the city wall.
Zhou Yuan held Wei Shan tightly with his left hand, while his right hand was outstretched, blocking the others and protecting Wei Shan behind him.
"Big brother, what should we do? Should we show ourselves?" Wei Shan meant by "show ourselves" was to demonstrate our absolute technological strength.
"Don't do anything for now. We can't act recklessly like we did on Ama Star." Wei Shan smiled slightly as she recalled what she and Zhou Yuan had done on Ama Star.
"Okay, listen to big brother."
Just as the two were talking, the crowd let out a series of shrill and terrified screams. Everyone saw that rows and groups of orcs with fangs and barbs were wielding gleaming swords and were about to rush to the city wall to slaughter everyone.
The soldiers on the battlements did not fire arrows; they simply watched as the orcs approached the trembling men clinging to the city wall.
Just when everyone thought their lives were in danger, a flock of soaring eagles suddenly appeared in the distant sky, numbering about three or four hundred. It seemed that there were people on these eagles! The eagles flapped their wings violently and charged straight at the beastmen. The people riding the eagles drew their bows and nocked arrows, firing a barrage of arrows at the beastmen. The beastmen who were hit by the arrows fell to the ground and could not get up again.
Enraged, the orcs stopped in their tracks, took bows from their shoulders with their left hands and arrows from their backs with their right, and unleashed a volley of arrows at the giant eagles.
The giant eagle darted through the air, its wings flapping as it fired arrows. The rider on the eagle let out a sharp cry, and the eagle suddenly accelerated upwards, causing the orcs' arrows to miss their mark.
The giant eagle circled above the orcs' heads, occasionally letting out a few clear cries. The riders sat cross-legged on the eagle's back, their eyes closed, seemingly in a meditative state.
The orcs' eyes gleamed as they looked at the human prey clinging to the wall. The orcs in the front row were itching to move forward.
Suddenly, a fierce wind arose, dark clouds gathered, and bolts of lightning struck the orcs approaching the city walls, blasting them to pieces. The orcs in the back ranks retreated in terror, panic spreading among them. They all turned and ran swiftly back the way they came, the lightning like moving walls of lightning, relentlessly pursuing the fleeing orcs and killing a large number of them.
Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan stared at the scene in astonishment. Although they knew beforehand that this planet was a world of superpowers, they still couldn't believe it was real after seeing it with their own eyes.
Those who were pressed against the wall immediately knelt down and prayed to the sky, "Thank you, spirits, for your rescue."
Elves? Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan were taken aback, and they quickly followed the others, squatting down as if to kneel in worship. This world is a bit complicated; humans, orcs, elves—I wonder what else might be there?
The elves seemed to sense that the orcs had run far away, and they all opened their eyes. Seeing the more than three hundred people kneeling on the ground, an elf rode a large eagle with a red forehead to their vicinity. This leading elf had a ruddy complexion, a white beard, and carried a cane.
"You guys get up."
Everyone stood up and bowed to express their gratitude, and then the group slowly began to move away from the city wall.
"General Zhao Yuan, the orcs have left. Please open the city gates and let them in." The white-bearded elf spoke loudly and clearly towards the battlements, his voice seemingly echoing.
"The general has ordered that no one is allowed to enter the city!"
"Outrageous! The orcs have already run away, why won't you release them?" The white-bearded elf seemed to be flushed red as he glared angrily at the battlements.
"This is a matter concerning our Ji Kingdom and the human race; it has nothing to do with your Elf race."
"Then what about your people?"
"This has nothing to do with you. Please leave immediately, or we will fire our crossbows."
"You, you..." The white-bearded elf could barely speak. "Children, take these humans home."
"Yes." So the elves riding the great eagles descended slowly, but upon reaching the ground, they jumped off. The eagles then folded their enormous wings.
The humans who had just left the city wall involuntarily retreated and moved closer to the wall again.
"Come on, it's alright. These eagles are very obedient. Don't be afraid," the elves reassured the humans.
Zhou Yuan tugged at Wei Shan, stepped out of the crowd, and approached one of the elves.
“Very good.” The handsome-faced elf smiled broadly, looking at the two of them with encouraging eyes, his two pointed ears standing straight up.
"Hello," Wei Shan waved to the elf as a greeting. It was her first time seeing an elf face-to-face, and Wei Shan was quite excited.
"My name is Lylas. Please come in." Lylas gracefully gestured for them to enter. The silver eagle spread its wings, crouched down, and its eyes darted around as if they possessed some kind of intelligence, looking at Zhou Yuan and Wei Shan.
"What an adorable eagle!" Wei Shan reached out to touch it, but Zhou Yuan quickly stepped forward and grabbed her.
"Leras, I'm sorry, my sister has never seen such a big and beautiful eagle before. She's very rude."
“It’s alright,” Lylas said with a gentle smile.
"Shanmei, you sit in front, and I'll sit behind you."
With Lylas's help, the two slowly climbed onto the eagle's back, one after the other. Zhou Yuan sat behind Wei Shan, carefully removing the hair clip from her hair and gently placing it into his pocket.
Wei Shan felt someone touching her hair and couldn't help but turn around to look at Zhou Yuan. Their eyes met and they smiled.
Once Lylas saw that the two of them were settled, he lightly leaped onto the eagle's back, sat behind Zhou Yuan, and patted the eagle. The eagle stood up, spread its huge wings, flapped a few times, and took off.
Wei Shan was very excited, her eyes fixed on the front, her hands gripping the sculpture tightly, enjoying the thrill of being airborne.
Seeing Wei Shan and Zhou Yuan sitting on the white eagle hovering in the air, the others followed suit and climbed onto the eagle one after another.
About half an hour later, a flock of eagles cried out in the air. The white-bearded elf waved his staff, and the eagles flapped their wings, circled once in the air, and then sped away from the castle, heading west.
Wei Shan nervously closed her eyes, the wind whistling in her ears, and she could hear the screams of the Ji Kingdom people and the soothing voices of the elves.
"Shanmei, look. How beautiful." In front, a big mountain holds up a huge red sunset, and the evening glow reflects the entire blue sky. Many eagles in front look like tiny dots, and these tiny dots, when viewed from behind, seem to be flying into the sun.
Wei Shan opened her eyes and was stunned by the beautiful scenery before her. She couldn't help but lean back. Zhou Yuan quickly supported her and put his arm around her slender waist. The smooth and soft feeling made Wei Shan's face burn. The blush on her cheeks, reflected in the sunset in front of her, made her look even redder.
The white-bearded elf and Lylas, who were leading the group, seemed to sense something and looked back, but they saw nothing but the castle receding into the distance.
Behind the flock of eagles, five stealth flying saucers had already started up, following the eagles at a distance, and slowly disappeared into the horizon.
