Chapter 249 It's My Fault
Chapter 249 It's My Fault
Song Huan told her to lie down quickly.
Song Huan pulled the blanket up to cover her chin.
"I'll go make you some brown sugar and ginger water."
He turned and ran into the kitchen, frantically trying to do something.
Get a pot, fill it with water, and slice the ginger.
The ginger was cut into pieces of varying thickness and size.
Sometimes I put in too much brown sugar, so I scooped some out; sometimes I put in too little, so I added some more.
Lin Yue leaned against the headboard, watching his busy figure in the kitchen through the half-open door.
He was wearing a faded T-shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and he was bent over, busy at the stove.
A smile unconsciously appeared on her face.
A short while later, Song Huan came out carrying brown sugar and ginger water.
The bowl was very hot, so he used a towel to cushion it and carefully held it in his hands.
He walked to the bedside, placed the bowl on the bedside table, helped Lin Yue sit up, and put a cushion behind her back.
He picked up the bowl, blew on it, scooped up a spoonful, and brought it to her lips.
Lin Yue took a sip and frowned slightly.
"What's wrong? Is it still hot?" He quickly took the spoon back, blew on it repeatedly, and then handed it back to the spoon.
Lin Yue shook her head. "Too much ginger. It's too spicy."
Song Huan was taken aback, then immediately said, "Then I'll go and cook you another pot."
He put down the bowl and turned to leave.
Lin Yue reached out and grabbed the hem of his shirt. "Let's talk about it next time. Let's finish this first."
He didn't say anything, but sat down again, picked up the bowl, and fed the baby spoonful by spoonful.
Lin Yue drank it sip by sip; there was indeed too much ginger in it, and it made her throat feel hot from the spiciness.
But she didn't say anything more.
She watched him as he bent down and blew on the spoon, focused and serious, as if he were doing something very important.
She suddenly realized that this bowl of brown sugar water was the best she had ever tasted.
After feeding her, he helped her lie down and covered her with a blanket.
"Take a nap," he said.
Then he turned around, walked out of the room, and closed the door behind him.
Lin Yue lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
But suddenly the room felt empty, and so did my heart.
I feel sad when I can't see him.
She sat up and looked out through the crack in the door.
Song Huan was in the kitchen, scrubbing a pot and using a steel wool pad to wipe the water stains off the stove.
After you're done washing, wring out the cloth, fold it up, and hang it over the faucet.
Then he picked up the broom and started sweeping, bending over as he swept from the kitchen to the living room, even reaching under the sofa to sweep.
After sweeping, I went to mop the floor.
I rinsed the mop twice in the water, wrung it out, and dragged it from one end of the living room to the other, not even missing the corners.
Lin Yue stared blankly at this scene.
She never imagined that a man would cook brown sugar water for her, clean her house, mop the floor, and wipe the stove when she was sick.
She never thought of it.
Just then, she suddenly saw him pick up the key next to the cabinet and walk towards the door.
"Where are you going?" she called out anxiously.
Song Huan turned around.
Inside the room, behind the crack in the door, Lin Yue's two tense eyes were fixed on him.
He hadn't expected that she wasn't asleep yet.
She looked at him, a pang of sadness in her heart. "Are you leaving already?"
The voice was soft and tinged with disappointment.
Even though he had already done very well.
He smiled and said, "I'm not leaving. I'm just going out to buy groceries. I'll cook lunch for you."
A smile bloomed on her face, like a spring flower. "Then hurry back."
The door closed.
Lin Yue was left alone at home again.
She lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
She picked up her phone and sent him a message.
Where are you?
He replied instantly, "Just out of the alley."
Which market did you go to?
"The old farmers' market, the one you took me to last time."
What are you planning to eat for lunch?
Steamed sea bass? Didn't you say you wanted to eat fish?
A slight smile played on her lips as she asked, "What else did you buy?"
He reported them one by one.
"Pork ribs, green vegetables, tomatoes, eggs, and I also bought some fruit."
She was like a chatterbox, asking questions nonstop.
He patiently replied while buying groceries.
She suddenly said, "I want to eat ice cream. Buy me one when you come back."
There was a moment of silence on the other end.
He replied, "But the doctor said I can't eat cold or spicy food during my period."
She pouted, "Just one, please."
His attitude was firm: "No."
"Are you stupid? The doctor said you can't eat cold things during your period, not that you can't eat ice cream!" she started arguing.
"But ice cream is supposed to be cold..." he said weakly.
"I don't care, I want to eat it." She snapped, "Is this how you pursue me? You can't even afford to buy me an ice cream."
He insisted, "But the doctor said I can't eat it."
She was furious.
She didn't know why she was so emotional today.
She never ate ice cream during her period before and never thought it would cause any problems.
I just want to eat today.
I just want him to buy it.
She made a phone call directly.
On the other end of the phone, his voice was weak, "Lin Yue, let's not eat today, okay? I'll definitely buy you a lot in a few days and freeze them in the refrigerator. You can eat them whenever you want."
She bit her lip. "I want to eat it today."
"But doctor..."
She interrupted him, "I don't want to listen to the doctor!"
Her voice got louder.
"But……"
She took a deep breath and shouted, "But I want to eat!"
Then he hung up the phone.
She tossed her phone aside, pulled the blanket over her head, and covered her face.
The phone is ringing.
one more time.
She didn't even look at it.
After a while, her emotions gradually calmed down.
She realized that he didn't seem to have done anything wrong.
It's common sense that you shouldn't eat cold food during your period.
I know that myself, and I've never eaten ice cream during my period before.
But why do I want to eat it today of all days?
She realized it too late.
She threw back the covers, picked up her phone, and opened QQ.
Messages popped up one after another, all of them his.
"I've bought the ice cream, and I'm on my way back."
"I bought the strawberry flavor; you said you wanted strawberry flavor last time."
"But you can only eat it when you're better. I'll put it in the freezer first."
Are you angry?
"Please don't be angry anymore, okay?"
"I was wrong."
"I shouldn't have disobeyed you. You wanted ice cream, so I should have bought it for you."
"Can you please pay attention to me?"
……
She stared at the messages for a moment, stunned.
He clearly did nothing wrong.
Why apologize? It was clearly my fault for throwing a tantrum.
The door opened.
Song Huan pushed open the door and came in, carrying large and small bags, her hands full of things.
He put his things on the ground, changed his shoes, and quickly walked to the door of the room.
He stood in the doorway, looking at her, and said, "I'm sorry."
He said.
He came in, stood by the bed, head down. "I shouldn't have disobeyed you. You wanted ice cream, I should have bought it for you. Are you still angry? Don't be angry, I won't do it again next time."
His voice was soft and unease, like that of a child who had done something wrong.
Lin Yue lowered her head and pursed her lips.
Song Huan thought she was still angry and wanted to go over and coax her.
She suddenly spoke up, "Why are you apologizing?"
He paused for a moment, then said, "You're angry, shouldn't I apologize?"
"But this is not your fault at all."
She looked up at his blank eyes and spoke softly.
He scratched his head. "I... but I made you angry..."
She felt a mix of emotions.
That idiot.
Even though she was being unreasonable, he felt it was his fault.
"You, right now, curse me."
"What?"
She repeated earnestly, "They scolded me for making a mountain out of a molehill, for making trouble out of nothing, for throwing a tantrum!"
He was stunned. "But..."
She interrupted him in a commanding tone, "No buts, just start scolding me!"
"Then...then I'll curse."
"Hurry up."
He hesitated for a while before his tone hardened, "Lin Yue, you went too far today. I was clearly doing this for your own good, and you didn't appreciate it. The doctor said you shouldn't eat cold things, but you insisted on having them. When I refused to buy them for you, you got angry. Do you know how worried I was about you? When your stomach hurt, I was so scared I almost fell off the bed. When you called to say you were in pain, my legs were weak on the way here. And you, you argue with me over an ice cream. You…"
But as he spoke, his voice grew softer and softer, "Do you know... that I... did nothing wrong today...?"
By the end, his voice had become so soft that it was barely audible.
Lin Yue then got out of bed, walked over, and hugged him.
His body froze, his hands hanging in mid-air, unsure of what to do.
She pressed her face against his chest, her voice soft and coquettish.
"I'm sorry, it was my fault."
She looked up at him, blinked, and asked, "Can you forgive me?"
Song Huan was trembling all over.
From my fingertips to my shoulders, and from my shoulders to my legs, I was shaking.
His heart was pounding like a drum, so fast you could hear it through his clothes.
Lin Yue heard this and smiled, her eyes narrowing into crescent moons.
She held up a finger and put it to her lips, making a "shh" gesture.
"Don't say it," she said. "Let me hear the answer in your heart."
She pressed her ear against his chest and listened quietly.
His heart was still racing, pounding as if it were about to leap out of his chest.
She closed her eyes, her eyelashes drooped, and the corners of her mouth turned up.
After a long while, she opened her eyes, looked up at him, and said, "Your heart has forgiven me."
She smiled broadly and said, "Thank you."
Sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the curtains, falling brightly on the two of them.
She stood in front of him, her arms still around his waist.
His hand was still hanging in mid-air, unsure of where to put it.
A gust of wind blew, causing the curtains to flutter. She didn't let go.
He didn't move. The sky outside the window was very blue, and the clouds were very white. He walked slowly.
She leaned against his chest, listening to his heartbeat.
The thumping sounds, one after another, seem to be saying something.
She understood.
She smiled too.
