Chapter 97 Escape from Dream Valley
Chapter 97 Escape from Dream Valley
Yun Muhan and the woman had to be extra careful to avoid getting lost.
"Look, that tree!" the woman suddenly exclaimed in a low voice, pointing to an ancient tree with a strange shape in front of her.
The tree's branches are twisted, as if telling the story of the vicissitudes of time. There are some huge stones scattered around its roots, and one of the stone slabs looks different, as if it has been moved by someone.
They quickly approached the stone slab, and Yun Muhan pushed it aside forcefully, revealing a dark hole. A damp stream of air rushed out of the hole, carrying the smell of earth and decay.
"Is this the entrance?" Yun Muhan asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
The woman nodded, her eyes shining with determination. "We must go down, even if it's not the entrance; it's our only hope right now."
Yun Muhan's figure flashed past the entrance of the passage. His movements were swift and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.
The woman followed closely behind, her figure appearing both resolute and courageous in the dim torchlight. The air inside the passage was heavy and oppressive, as if every stone was telling an ancient secret.
The narrow passage forced them to stoop, an uncomfortable posture that made progress even more difficult. The moss on the walls appeared lush and green in the torchlight, its slippery surface making every step a challenge.
Yun Muhan and the woman had to be extra careful to avoid slipping or hitting the sharp rocks.
The torches in their hands were their only source of light in the darkness; though their glow was faint, it was enough to illuminate the path beneath their feet. The firelight danced in the passage, casting their shadows onto the walls, forming distorted patterns.
As they ventured deeper, the mystery and danger of Dream Valley seemed to be left behind, but new challenges and unknown fears awaited them ahead.
Yun Muhan and the woman supported each other, their hands occasionally touching, conveying warmth and strength. Their steps were slow but unwavering, each one filled with a yearning for freedom.
As they moved slowly through the passage, Yun Muhan and the woman's faces appeared tense yet resolute in the flickering torchlight. Their eyes gleamed with unwavering determination; even in the face of unknown fears, they never considered giving up.
Although the torchlight was faint, it shone brightly in the darkness, illuminating not only their path but also the hope in their hearts.
The increasing dampness and musty smell in the air made them uncomfortable, but it also reminded them that they were going deeper underground and further away from the surface of Dream Valley.
This feeling of going deep underground made every step they took even more important, because they knew that with each step they took, they were one step closer to the exit.
Yun Muhan and the woman proceeded cautiously through the passage. They knew that this path might lead to unknown dangers, but as long as they did not give up, there was always a glimmer of hope.
“Listen, there’s the sound of water.” The woman suddenly stopped and listened intently.
Yun Muhan also calmed down, and sure enough, the sound of flowing water came from somewhere ahead. They quickened their pace, hoping to find a water source, which was undoubtedly a glimmer of hope in the underground labyrinth.
Soon, they arrived at a small underground lake. The water was crystal clear, and there were tiny fluorescent lights floating on the surface, like underground stars.
Yun Muhan squatted down, scooped up a handful of water, and the cool sensation invigorated him. The woman also drank a few sips, and then they continued along the lakeside.
"Look over there!" Yun Muhan pointed ahead, where a faint ray of light shone through the crack. They quickened their pace; hope was just around the corner.
The light grew brighter and the passageway widened until they finally arrived at a huge underground cavern.
Inside the cavern, stone pillars stand tall, supporting the rocks above, while overhead, a huge crack allows sunlight to stream in and illuminate the entire space.
Yun Muhan and the woman exchanged a smile; they had finally found the exit. They climbed upwards along the path between the stone pillars, each step filled with hope.
When they finally climbed out of the crevice and stood in the sunlight, they both took a deep breath of fresh air. They looked around and realized they had left Dream Valley and entered an unknown forest.
"We did it," Yun Muhan exclaimed, his voice filled with relief and joy.
The woman smiled and nodded, her eyes sparkling with anticipation for the future. "Yes, we did it. Now, let's start a new life."
Dugu Jianling: "I've been calling for a long time, but no one is paying attention to me. Oh well... It's fine to spend my last moments like this."
Hand in hand, the two embarked on a new journey. Though the road ahead was unknown, they knew that as long as they were together, nothing was impossible. The shadows of Dream Valley had been left behind, and freedom and hope awaited their exploration.
Sunlight filtered through the treetops, dappling their bodies and adding a touch of mystery and vitality to the unknown forest. Yun Muhan and the woman walked with light yet firm steps, their spirits soaring freely like the birds in the forest.
"We need to find a place to settle down first," Yun Muhan said as he walked, his eyes searching the surroundings for possible water and food sources.
The woman nodded in agreement, her gaze equally sharp. She knew that surviving in this forest required both wisdom and courage. "We can set up camp on that hill over there; it offers a wide field of vision and is easy to defend."
Dugu Jianling: "That's fine too. Yun Muhan, you brat, just... live out your life in peace! This great one is better off going into hibernation."
"Even if you didn't take me across the Three Realms, I wouldn't regret choosing you as my master. I just hate... hate that I don't have the ability, the ability to save you."
"I wish I could hear one more song... Never mind, I'll stop talking to myself. Goodbye... Yun Muhan."
