The two quickly headed towards the source of the sound, traversing through the dense forest, and soon discovered a little girl surrounded by demonic wolves.

She looked to be only about ten years old, her face streaked with tears, clutching a wooden stick tightly in her hand, trying to fend off the approaching wolves.

He used his elemental powers perfectly; the ice walls were incredibly solid, and the fire walls were scorching hot, preventing the demon wolves from getting close.

With their perfect coordination, the wolves fell one after another, their attacks surging like a tidal wave, giving the wolves no chance to catch their breath.

Yun Muhan's sword light and Dugu Jianling's elemental power intertwined, forming an unbreakable defensive line that protected the little girl from harm.

In the end, all the demonic wolves were driven back, and the little girl was saved. She looked at Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling, her eyes filled with gratitude and awe. Yun Muhan gently patted the little girl's head, comforting her that everything was over and she was safe.

Dugu Jianling vigilantly observed his surroundings to ensure that no more demonic wolves were lurking nearby.

Yun Muhan gently patted the little girl's head: "Don't be afraid, we will take you home."

They carefully led the little girl, Xiaoyue, through the forest, searching for the way back to the village.

Yun Muhan, however, paid more attention to their surroundings, knowing there might be other dangers in the forest. He whispered to Dugu Jianling, "We have to hurry. We must get her back before dawn, otherwise the other wild beasts in the forest might become even more active."

Dugu Jianling nodded. He began to use his elemental power to create a faint light to illuminate their path and avoid attracting unnecessary attention.

With them continuing to lead the way, Xiaoyue felt much more at ease. She followed closely behind them, her steps still a little unsteady, but noticeably stronger than before.

After a period of trekking, they finally saw the lights of a village in the distance.

Xiaoyue's eyes immediately lit up, and she excitedly pointed ahead: "Look, that's our village!"

Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling exchanged a smile, quickened their pace, and soon brought Xiaoyue back to the village. The villagers were overjoyed to see Xiaoyue return safely and gathered around to thank the two heroes for their kindness.

The village chief, a kind old man, held Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling's hands tightly: "Thank you so much. The children in our village are all our treasures. You saved Xiaoyue, which means you saved the hope of our village."

Yun Muhan responded modestly, "This is what we should do. Anyone would lend a helping hand in this situation."

Dugu Jianling added, "The forest is fraught with danger. Please keep a close eye on the children in the future and never let them enter the forest alone again."

After bidding farewell to the villagers and Xiaoyue, Yun Muhan and Dugu Jianling planned to return to Tianqi City to complete their mission of defeating the Demon Wolf King.

The village chief couldn't help but ask, "Princess Youyue, are you... testing them?"
